Woman’s (Gynaecological) Diseases

Types of Gynaecological Diseases

Gynaecological disorders refer to health issues in the female reproductive organs, including the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, external genitalia, and breasts. Here are some common gynaecological diseases:

  1. Dysmenorrhea: This involves menstrual pain severe enough to interfere with daily life. It has two subtypes: primary and secondary dysmenorrhea.
  2. Amenorrhea: This refers to the lack of menstruation. It can be physiological (occurring before adolescence, during pregnancy and lactation, and post-menopause) or pathological (due to health issues).
  3. Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome (PCOS): This is a common gynecological problem affecting young women.
  4. Endometriosis: This is a condition in which the endometrial-like tissue starts growing outside the uterus.
  5. Uterine Fibroids: These are noncancerous growths of the uterus that often appear during childbearing years.
  6. Ovarian Cysts: These are fluid-filled sacs or pockets in an ovary or on its surface.
  7. Diseases of breast
    • Breast Cysts: Fluid-filled lumps that can be tender and lumpy, but they don’t increase cancer risk.
    • Fibroadenomas: The most common noncancerous solid breast tumors found in people between the ages of 15 to 35.
    • Fibrocystic Breast Changes: Fluctuating hormone levels can make breasts feel lumpy, dense and tender, especially right before menstruation
    • Hyperplasia: An overgrowth of cells that line your mammary ducts or glands.
    • Intraductal Papilloma: Small, wart-like growths that form inside your mammary duct near the nipple.
  8. Vaginal Diseases:
    • Yeast Infections: Result from the fungus called Candida, typically Candida albicans. Symptoms include irritation, itching, and burning in and around the vagina, thick, sticky, white discharge, and swelling and flushing around the vulva and vagina.
    • Bacterial Vaginosis (BV): Occurs when there is an overgrowth of the bacteria that are naturally present in the vagina. Symptoms include thin gray or white discharge, a fishy-smelling odor from the vagina, a burning sensation while urinating, pain during sexual intercourse, and itching of the vulva.
    • Trichomoniasis: A sexually transmitted infection that typically causes both vaginal itching and a fish-like odor.
    • Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea: These are sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
    • Viral Vaginitis (Herpes): An infection caused by a virus.
    • Non-Infectious Vaginitis: Inflammation of the vagina that isn’t caused by an infection.
    • Atrophic Vaginitis: Inflammation of the vagina due to thinning and shrinking of the tissues, as well as decreased lubrication, which is often due to a lack of oestrogen during menopause.
  9. Post-menopausal syndrome is a term used to describe the time after a person has gone through menopause. This stage begins when a person has been without a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months.

During post-menopause, the menopausal symptoms experienced in the past may become milder or go away completely. However, some people continue to experience menopausal symptoms for a decade or longer after menopause.

The most common symptoms during post-menopause are hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and urogenital atrophy, which causes vaginal dryness, urinary symptoms, and discomfort with intercourse

Scope of Homoeopathic Treatment in Managing Gynaecological Diseases

Homoeopathic treatments are beneficial in the treatment of both acute and chronic gynaecological diseases, as well as in preventing further complications. Homoeopathy can manage and treat many gynaecological disorders and enhance the overall health of females.

Research on Homoeopathic Effects on Gynaecological Diseases

There are many types of research and studies which prove the positive effects of homeopathic remedies in various chronic disorders including gynaecological disorders such as fibroids, PCOS, Menstrual disorders, PMS, etc. A case study of primary female infertility treated with homoeopathy resulted in the patient giving birth to a healthy baby girl7. Another research paper discusses the homoeopathic management for common gynaecological disorders like PCOS, Endometriosis, and Uterine Fibroids.

In conclusion, homoeopathy offers a promising and effective approach to managing gynaecological diseases. It not only treats the symptoms but also targets the root cause of the disease, providing a holistic treatment approach.
